Our Review
The hammered dulcimer is an instrument at its best in a Christmas setting, and Dan Duggan does justice to the instrument and to the season on Christmas Morn. As its title suggests, this CD brings out all of the traditional Christmas hymns, carols and wassails necessary to experience the joy of Christmas morning.
Duggan has a very nimble hand, articulating with a delicate voice the wonderful sound of his instruments (he plays guitar and piano in addition to playing hammered dulcimer). I enjoyed the very laid-back feel of the music on his CD. The title track, Dan Duggan's own Christmas Morn, reminds me of waking up early and stumbling in under the tree, watching as the young ones stick their arms deep into their stockings to pull out the deepest prize. Coffee cup in hand, I give thanks for another year of good health and plenty, joyful at the prospect of living and loving, with family and friends.
This is one of nine fine Christmas CDs available from Celestial Harmonies.
