Well, then, let's get this season underway! And here on opening day, we have Judy Akin in the batter's box. Does she take the first pitch? No, she swings away, at Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, a classic drive up the left field line, in fair territory.

Haha. I don't think I can maintain that metaphor for long, and anyway it's September, which is the opposite, just about, of opening day. Except for here at Christmasreviews.com where the season is just beginning.

And what better way to begin the season than with Seasoned, Judy Akin's mellow 2007 release. Ms. Akin continues to swing away, almost every at bat, and even goes into extra innings, with Seasoned playing through 11 innings, um, songs I mean.

I enjoyed these songs. Ms. Akin presents a basket of holiday chestnuts that would do Karen Carpenter proud, and even includes a sweet rendition of Carpenter's Merry Christmas Darling. Although her voice does not share Carpenter's richness, she still has the chops to pull off this nice easy listening set.

With holiday hits galore, Akin gets the season off to a good start with an easy win.
