Our Review

I get annoyed with Sarah Silverman's brand of infantile humor, occasionally voicing the complaint that I prefer my humor sophomoric. Larry The Cable Guy's Christmastime in Larryland proves that just being sophomoric is not good enough, either. Humor has to offer be more than just rude profanity. Not that I have anything against rude profanity, per se, especially if the butt of the jokes are Southern dumbasses. But I just didn't hear much to laugh at in Larry The Cable Guy's rude profanity. Also, I'm not completely sure Southern dumbasses are the butt of the joke in Larryland.

To be sure, there were a few chuckles to be had. But the wince-to-chuckle ratio was at least 5-1. The "humor", such as it is, is lowbrow Bob and Tom Show stuff, but not as funny. It relies on using lots of references to lib'rals, ay-rabs, and tits. Example track: Farting Jingle Bells. Nuff said about that.

There were a couple of good jokes in the Opening Monologue but the laughs were few and far between after that. It isn't that I don't think this could have been funny: Chelsea Lately (on E!) is one of my favorite television programs, for goshsakes. I just don't think Larry The Cable Guy got 'r done here.
