Our Review
Molly's Revenge is all about a Celtic music band with four fine fellows: David Brewer, John Weed, Pete Haworth, and Stuart Mason. For Yuledance: A Celtic Christmas Celebration, the guys are joined by vocalist/harpist Jesse Autumn, whose unbelievably fragile voice and gentle harp nicely balance the manly men on their high-energy instrumentals.
Yuledance bursts with Celtic charm and enthusiastic professionalism--you can tell that the band loves the task at hand. With a few exceptions, the tunes are not well known, but they are all well played, and the ride is very worthwhile. I have always loved the delicate Lo How a Rose E'er Blooming, and the piece is perhaps my favorite on the album. Jesse Autumn's heartbreakingly beautiful vocal will bring tears to your eyes; she is also rapturous on Drive Sorrows Away and Silent Night. Most of the pieces are lively instrumentals, the sort of music that makes you uncontrollably tap your toes while writing a holiday music review at the dining room table.
Nicely done, Molly's Revenge. Your Yuledance will have my Celtic feet dancing a jig throughout the holiday season!
