Our Review
The Nelons want to tell you the story of the nativity. This is the simple yet unusual premise of A Journey. But what stands out about this CD is the execution. Punctuated by Jason Clark's inspiring tunes, A Journey sets a high standard for entertaining Christian holiday music.
There are some stellar arrangements on this CD. My favorite by far was the Christian contemporary hit His Name is Jesus, a Jason Clark composition. I couldn't stop hitting "repeat" as I found myself listening to this catchy alter call over and over. Runner-up was Clark's country toe-tapper Heaven Send Help.
The Nelons also perform several traditional carols. I particularly enjoyed their simple arrangement of Silent Night. In fact, all of the traditional carols are performed with enthusiasm and flair. But the traditionals are just bonus tracks on a CD loaded with contemporary Christian hits.
I enjoy listening to Christmas music presented by primarily secular artists, but it can be delightful to hear what Christian performers bring to the celebration of Christ's birth.
