Our Review

I always enjoy the application of electric guiter to Christmas music, but I especially enjoy hearing 12th century French carols modernized in this way. In the latest edition of the Yes, Virginia tradition, eight sacred seasonals are laced with notable guitar riffs, making this a record sure to be enjoyed by twenty-, thirty-, forty-, and fifty-something rockers.

The 1999 release features four additional songs, and sounds better than ever. New for '99 is an Yngwie Malmstein meets Damn Yankees inspired "Angels We Have Heard On High", a Steve Morse flavored "I Saw Three Ships", and a Queen-goes-heavy-metal "Joy to the World".

I am still partial to O Come O Come Emmanuel because it reminds me of the unequaled rock and roll licks of the '70s.

Electrifying arrangements and strong production values make this one of my top picks.
