Our Review
It is very rare I call a music soothing, but I'm getting too old and stove up not to need soothing, so it is always a pleasant surprise when something soothes as much as We Three Strings, the new new age instrumental CD from Bryan Lubeck, Johannes Linstead, and Tomas Michaud. For here comes a set of twelve Christmas favorites put to new arrangement by several of the best contemporary spanish-style guitarists on the planet.
Although the three guitarists recorded their selections separately and interspersed them on the record, they meld together seamlessly, becoming an integral work. Not only are these arrangements novel and new, they are not at all rushed. Each piece is given time to develop; nothing is hurried. Consequently, when I would find a tune I just really enjoyed, there were always sufficient versiage to allow me to enjoy the song for four or five minutes. This is excellent music for early morning wake up duty.
I always love good, clean contemporary flamenco-style guitar. I'm going to be loving this CD for a long time.
